# Background of  The “Tor Boon, Tor Sak, Luean Yot Yok Ubosot” Project (Building Merit, Elevating Honor and Restoring the Ordination Hall)

Background of the The The “Tor Boon, Tor Sak, Luean Yot Yok Ubosot” Project (Building Merit, Elevating Honor and Restoring the Ordination Hall)

The story begins at Wat Thiang Phimonmuk in Chachoengsao Province, a temple established around 1947. The temple was founded when Kamnan Thiang and his family donated approximately 32,000 square meters (over 20 rai) of land for the construction of a Buddhist temple, which later became known as Wat Thiang Phimonmuk. Today, the temple is under the leadership of Phra Khru Wimon Thammaphirom, affectionately known as Luangta Ched, who serves as its abbot.

The project originated from Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukvimol, then Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, He was a disciple of Luangta Ched and regularly visited him at the temple. One day, Luangta Ched shared his wish to raise the temple’s historic ubosot to a higher level. The building was situated on low-lying ground beside a canal and was prone to flooding. Although the area had been elevated several times over the years, it remained vulnerable to water accumulation. Upon learning of the situation, Pol. Gen. Torsak donated 2 million baht to support the elevation of the temple’s historic ubosot.

Following the elevation of the ubosot, it was discovered that several parts of the structure still required restoration, as the building was quite old and had stood for many years. In addition, Luangta Ched wished to further restore and renovate the ubosot as an offering to the Buddha, so that it would stand in greater beauty and dignity, bringing honor to the temple and its lay Buddhist community. This ultimately became the inspiration behind the project.
