To provide some background, Wat Thiang Phimonmuk in Chachoengsao Province was established around 1947. The temple was founded after Kamnan Thiang and his family donated more than 20 rai of land for the construction of what is now Wat Thiang Phimonmuk. Today, Phra Khru Wimon Thammaphirom (Luang Ta Ched) serves as the abbot of the temple.
The project began with Police General Torsak Sukvimol, the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, who has long been a disciple of Luang Ta Ched and regularly visited the temple to pay his respects. On one occasion, Luang Ta Ched shared with Police General Torsak his wish to raise the temple’s old Ubosot, as it was built on low-lying land beside a canal and was prone to flooding. Although the area had been filled and elevated several times, it remained vulnerable because of its low elevation. After learning of this, Police General Torsak donated 2,000,000 baht to support the raising of the historic Ubosot at the temple.
After the Ubosot had been raised, it was found that several parts of the structure still required restoration, as the building was quite old and had stood for many years. At the same time, Luang Ta Ched wished to fully restore and renovate the Ubosot as an offering of devotion to the Buddha, making it dignified and worthy of the temple while serving as a source of pride for the lay Buddhist community. This aspiration became the foundation of the project.
